PokéBonk Clans, Friends & Co-op: How They Work (and What’s Coming)
Clans and friends exist today. A 4-player co-op was announced but not out yet.
Quick answer
Clans (up to 100 members) and friends work today and need an account. Co-op for up to 4 players was announced for Season 2 but is not out yet (official posts to 18 Oct 2026).
Is there multiplayer in PokéBonk?
Not as co-op yet. Today the social features are clans, friends and leaderboards. The welcome post promised “co-op mode for up to 4 players” and the maintenance post says it is being tested and should arrive with Season 2, together with a better late game and more build options such as skill fusion. Official, 15 and 17 Oct. Friends were introduced as “the groundwork for the co-op mode coming later” (Patch #1). Dates can slip: check the game’s news panel.
How do clans work?
- Access: the leader chooses Open (join instantly), By request (you send a message; the leader or an officer accepts) or Invitation only. Existing clans were switched to “By request”. Official, Patch #1.
- Clan finder: if you have no clan, it lists clans looking for members with a Join or Request button; answers arrive in your Mailbox. Official, Patch #1.
- Size: from 30 up to 100 members; any member can add 10 slots with their own Stardust (from 500). Official, Patch #4.
- Clan page: tabs for Members (last login; sort by rank, season, all-time or last seen), Requests and Activity. Official, Patch #4.
- Announcements: a leader message pinned for 7 days that reaches every member’s mailbox with a “Let’s play!” button. Official, Patch #4.
- The leader can write a clan presentation. Official, Patch #1.
How do friends work?
- Add friends from their Trainer card or by typing their name. Official, Patch #1.
- The Friends screen, next to the Mailbox, shows who is online and lets you invite them to your clan. Official, Patch #1.
- Friends and clans are for registered trainers; a guest sees a message that friends need an account. Observed in the game client.
Do guests get leaderboards?
No. Guest runs no longer enter the leaderboards; sign up to compete, and your progress is still saved. Official, Patch #3. Leaderboards are split into KOs, Per Pokémon, Survival and Time attack, and each of the 79 League Pokémon has its own board (the top 3 win the Specialist frame; #1 gets a title like “Charmander Master”; a board needs 5 trainers). Official, Patch #4.
When does the season end?
Seasons last a week. The game’s status endpoint listed Season 1 (“GEN 1”) as live until 20 Oct 2026, 5:00 PM PDT (21 Oct, 00:00 UTC) when we checked on 18 Oct. Season 2 is announced to bring co-op and a reworked Survival.
Checklist for when co-op launches
- Confirm the version and read the new patch notes.
- Party size, invite/join flow and host requirements.
- What progress and rewards are shared, and how scaling works.
- Reconnect behavior and any guest limits.
